3 Years after Dave helped us purchase our 1st home, he was the first and only phone call we made to help us navigate the simultaneous selling and buying process with ease. He went out of his way to help with small tasks like filling in small holes in the wall where pictures had been - above and beyond the call of duty - and he referred me to some very competent vendors for carpet and apartment cleaning and handyman chores. My condo sold for more than what we listed. I am forever grateful to Dave, who is a genuine "nice guy" and first-rate real estate broker.

Dave Cates is simply the best! We live out of state and wanted to explore a home purchase for eventual retirement. We first met Dave after a referral from someone who had bought their home with him. After emails and phone conversations Dave met with us armed with maps and brochures. He drove us around showing the various neighborhoods of Durham and a variety of home styles to help us narrow down our desired area and type of property best for us. With that information he created a new group of listings for us to explore. He patiently showed us home after home until we found what we liked. At that point he was an invaluable resource to us for all manner of services. From out of state, Dave worked with us online and on the phone to help arrange our mortgage, and legal services all the way through the closing. Once the purchase was complete, he recommended all manner of repair people. He made the whole process as easy as it could be, and since then he has helped us with 2 other home purchases. Dave Cates went above and beyond to help us sell our home. He had a multitude of contacts to handle repairs both cosmetic and structural to prepare our house for market. He was continually encouraging through this process until a buyer was found. He was a true gentleman and we consider him our friend.

I could not recommend Dave enough if you are in the market for a realtor. He was fantastic and incredibly patient while guiding us through the purchase of our first home. Dave has great relationships with many different people in the triangle and as we worked through all the parts, it felt like each person was a part of our team and not disjointed. In the summer of 2016 I wanted to start the process to become a homeowner. I needed to work with a knowledgeable and experienced realtor to find the right house in the right neighborhood for my family. Dave Cates from Coldwell Banker HPW was that person. He met with me and discussed all the advantages and pitfalls of the current housing market in Durham. David understood all of our needs and did his best to find the best houses in the best locations. Additionally, he went beyond the call of duty to make sure the buying process went as smooth as possible. He coordinated meetings with high quality contractors to take a look at different aspects of the house and provided much appreciated advice. I believe that David Cates is a good person and I would recommend him to anyone that is going to start the process of home buying.
